24/01/2012 (Agence Europe) - EU has noted the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to lay charges against four individuals - William Ruto, Joshua Sang, Uhuru Kenyatta and Francis Muthaura - for their involvement in the post-electoral violence that swept Kenya in 2007-2008, and says that it “supports the Court and its independence”. That is the message sent by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton in a statement published on 24 January. Ashton calls on the four men “to continue to cooperate fully with the ICC, and equally urges the Government of Kenya to respect its obligations as a State Party to the Rome Statute of the ICC”.
