Sport and art can combat crime

Warsaw, 21/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - How is juvenile delinquency to be prevented? What is the best practice in curbing crime? EU member states met in Poland, the country of the Presidency of the EU Council of Ministers, on 14-15 December to compare notes on the methods they have found most useful. The aim of the EU Crime Prevention Network conference “Sport, Science and Art in Combating Juvenile Crime” was to share best practice in this area.

Police officers and representatives of several security, urban crime and drug-related crime institutions listed “examples of good practice in educative and preventative activities in the areas of sport and education”. This exchange of information among those involved in crime prevention underlined that law-breaking can be prevented through socialisation activities, such as sport, art and education. (VW/transl.rt)
