Strasbourg, 12/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - At the start of the plenary session on Monday 12 December, the president of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, officially introduced the 17 new members of the European Parliament. This increase in numbers was provided for by the Treaty of Lisbon and comes further to a decision by the European Council of June 2010, authorising the arrival of 18 additional MEPs from 12 Member States.
