05/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: Gazprom Schweiz-Promgas. The European Commission granted clearance on Monday 5 December to the proposed acquisition by which Gazprom Schweiz of Switzerland, which is controlled by Gazprom Export LLC of the Russian Federation, itself controlled by the Open Joint Stock Company Gazprom of the Russian Federation, will purchase the remaining 50% share in Promgas (Italy) from ENI SpA of Italy. Promgas is currently jointly owned by ENI and Gazprom Export. The Open Joint Stock Company Gazprom is active in exploration, production, transport, refining and marketing of natural gas and petrochemical products. Gazprom exports natural gas, oil, oil derivatives and other oil and petrochemical products and is engaged in investment projects in the energy sector. Gazprom Schweiz is active in the hydrocarbon exploration, production and sales sectors. Promgas operates on the natural gas wholesale market in Italy. (OL/transl.rt)
