Brussels, 02/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - During the 14th round of talks on EU-Russia human rights on 29 November, in Brussels, the European Union restated its concern regarding human rights in Russia including the rights of the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transsexual community, freedom of association, of expression and of assembly and continued impunity especially on matters involving human rights defenders and journalists, the European Commission said. Europeans also took up the subject of kidnapping, disappearances, forced expulsion and women's rights in North Caucasus. Both sides discussed the possibility of stepping up their practical cooperation, including in the development, in Russia, of far-reaching anti-discrimination legislation.
The next round of consultation will be held in spring 2012. (CG/transl.jl)
