Brussels, 12/10/2011 (Agence Europe) - From Wednesday 12 October until 10 November MEPs will be able to see and vote for three films in the running for the Lux prize. On 16 November, the name of the prize-winner will be revealed by the president of the parliament in Strasbourg. The prize will help fund the winning film's subtitling and film distribution in each EU country.
The three competing films this year are: “Attenberg” by Athina Rachel Tsangari ( Greece), “Les neiges du Kilimandjaro” by Robert Guédiguian (France) and “Play” by Ruben Östlund (a Danish-Franco-Swedish coproduction). The three finalists have been selected out of 10 films proposed by a jury of cinema professionals and chosen by the European Parliament culture and education committee. In order to participate in the LUX prize competition films have to focus on the constitutive values of the European identity, cultural diversity in Europe or the debate on the European Union integration process.
