Brussels, 08/09/2011 (Agence Europe) - The EU Council of Ministers is expected, on Monday 12 September, to adopt without debate its position on the draft amending budget No 4 for the 2011 budget, allowing the mobilisation of additional Union resources for the management of migration and refugee flows further to recent developments in southern Mediterranean countries. There will be a rise of €52.2 million in commitment appropriations (€43.9 million in payment appropriations) in 2011: €30 million (commitments) for the Frontex agency and €22.2 million for the External Borders Fund, the European Return Fund and the European Refugee Fund. Commitments will be covered by redeployment of funding and by drawing payments from the margin under sub-heading “freedom, security and justice”. It should be noted that the Austrian and Dutch delegations are expected to vote against the text, while Germany and Sweden are expected to abstain. (L.C./transl.jl)
