Brussels, 29/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton issued a call for calm from Serbia and Kosovo on Thursday 28 July. An EU special envoy will travel to the region where ill-feeling over control of two border posts in the north of Kosovo could spiral into crisis. Ashton called on the two parties to “show maximum restraint”, in a situation where NATO troops have intervened to reduce tension. “A return to dialogue remains the only way for Belgrade and Pristina to resolve the underlying issues”, said Ashton, in a press release. “Both need to engage without delay with the EU facilitator travelling to the region in the coming days”, she added.
