Brussels, 08/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 7 July, the Lebanese parliament took a vote of confidence in favour of Prime Minister Najib Mikati, winning with 68 votes out of a total of 128. The former prime minister, Saad Hariri, is in the opposition. “This is a welcome development which will enable Lebanon to respond to the political and economic challenges it is facing”, said Catherine Ashton, speaking at the end of the day on behalf of the EU.
