E.Coli - Egyptian seeds taken from market and import banned

Brussels, 05/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - The EU decided on Tuesday 5 July to withdraw certain types of seeds and beans from Egypt from the market and to ban their import until 31 October, after Egyptian fenugreek seeds imported into Germany in 2009 were established as being the most likely common link between two E.coli (0104 strain) outbreaks, one in Germany which caused 48 deaths and the other in France, where around a dozen people have died, according to a European Food Safety Authority...
