Brussels, 20/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 17 June, the European Investment Bank (EIB) granted a loan worth €200 million to the Junta de Andalucía to finance investment for preserving this autonomous Spanish community's natural heritage and help it develop its natural resources by mitigating the effects of climate change.
This operation will contribute to investment funding in the environment up until 2014. Projects targeted by this programme will also benefit from EU resources as part of the ERDF and the Urban Development Fund. The investment programme will support a large number of projects throughout the region, particularly in the following areas: sustainable public forest management; the creation of new forestry plantations over a surface area of around 4,700 hectares and the improvement of approximately 2 million hectares of private forest; the improvement of infrastructure and signposting of nature reserves to make them more accessible to visitors.
