Brussels, 29/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - Nearly one thousand people from Tunisia and Libya arrived on the island of Lampedusa during the night of Monday to Tuesday, AFP reports. On Tuesday, the S&D Group at the European Parliament therefore urged the European Commission to immediately call for a meeting of the EU home affairs ministers to coordinate a joint response to the refuge emergency on the Italian island, an S&D press release states.
