Dialogue continues - working group is set up

Brussels, 29/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - Dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, which began under the auspices of the European Union on 8 March in Brussels (see EUROPE 10330), led to an initial intermediate conclusion of a concrete nature, that of setting up a joint working group to take forward the practical work of completing civil registry information. The group of experts of both parties chaired by a representative of EULEX (the EU rule of law mission in Kosovo) must also prepare an outline agreement aimed at producing more accurate cadastre records and thereby securing the rights of property owners, an EU press release published 28 March explains. The same day, in Brussels, a second meeting was held between Borko Stefanovic of Serbia (senior official of the Foreign Ministry) and Kosovar Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri under the chairmanship of Robert Cooper of Britain from the European External Action Service (EEAS). Talks during the second meeting also covered the possibility of improving the daily lives of people in relation to telecommunications and electricity supply, as well as regional trade and the free movement of goods. The important subject of free movement of persons between Serbia and Kosovo was also touched upon. This will be examined in greater depth during the next meeting scheduled for mid-April, in Brussels.
