23/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - European Commission signs two contracts to complete implementation of Galileo. Industry Commissioner Antonio Tajani has organised a meeting with Director of the European Space Agency (ESA) Jean-Jacques Dordain and the Chief Executives of the European Space industries that will take charge of the project on the services of the global navigation satellite system Galileo. The meeting, on Wednesday afternoon 23 March, provided the opportunity for the signing of the two remaining contracts for Galileo (completion of ground mission infrastructure and completion of ground control infrastructure) and the launch of the first two operational Galileo satellites. As we went to press; no news had filtered out of the meeting. Tajani intended also to emphasise the responsibility of industry regarding the costs, but also in respect of commitments, including deadlines for the success of Galileo. (A.By./transl.rt)
