Brussels, 23/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 24 March, the European Parliament will endorse the decision of its economic and monetary affairs committee to give the go-ahead, after a series of public hearings last week, to the appointment of the three executive directors of the new ESAs (European Supervision Authorities - one for banking, one for insurance and pensions, and one for securities). Adam Farkas will become the executive director of the European Banking Authority, Verena Ross the executive director of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and Carlos Montalvo will be the executive director if the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). A similar procedure was used earlier in the year to decide on the ESA presidents. (M.B./transl.fl)
