Brussels, 04/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - The members of the Euro-Mediterranean Assembly must “show the way towards a renewed Euro-Mediterranean partnership” as “there is no real stability without a true community of values” such as respect for the individual, respect of diversity, individual freedom and national solidarity. This extract was taken from the speech delivered by European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek as the 7th Euromed Parliamentary Assembly plenary session opened in Rome. The presidents of the Italian Senate and Chamber of Deputies, Antonio Schifani and Gianfranco Fini, both spoke of the delays incurred by the Union for the Mediterranean. The presidency of the Assembly, to which the MEPs belong, is currently held by Italy and, in addition to the representatives of Jordan and Morocco, its bureau comprises a fourth permanent member - the president-in-office of the European Parliament.
