Brussels, 25/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 24 February, the European Commission adopted rules to harmonise information between all the players involved in creating the Single European Sky (SES) by deciding what information has to be provided ahead of the creation of Functional Airspace Blocks (FABs). The member states have decided to put an end to the fragmentation of Europe's air space by creating nine common geographical air spaces by December 2012, known as Functional Airspace Blocks (FABs), a cornerstone in ensuring cooperation among member states to improve performance and synergies. The draft regulation lists the information to be provided to the Commission, the European Air Safety Agency and member states and other stakeholders whenever member states decide to create a FAB. The information will not include classified information, business secrets or any other type of confidential item, explains the Commission. (L.C./transl.fl)
