24/02/2011 (Agence Europe) -EU welcomes Kosovar government and president. In a joint statement, C atherine Ashton, the vice-president of the European Commission and head of European diplomacy, and Stefan Füle, the commissioner for neighbourhood policy, “welcomed the establishment of a new government in Kosovo and the election of the president”: “we look forward to working with them to improve the lives of the people of Kosovo and to help them fulfil Kosovo's European perspective. We also count on the new government to tackle its reform priorities, in particular to strengthen public administration, enhance the rule of law and to ensure the integration of all communities”. The representatives of the EU also welcome the commitment of the new government to the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue and stressed that on this point also, they will be working closely with the new Kosovar prime minister and his team.
