12/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - ETNO meets Hungarian Presidency. Improving the conditions for private-sector investments in the high-speed broadband networks should be the priority of the Hungarian Presidency, in the framework of the digital agenda of the EU. The members of ETNO (European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association) stressed this point at a working lunch with Lazlo Toth, Head of department to the Hungarian telecoms minister, Zsolt Nyitrai. Luigi Gambardella, Chairman of the board of ETNO, said that “the EU should allow new business models to emerge, such as tenders differentiated on the basis of quality”. The members of ETNO also called on the Hungarian Presidency to work towards the rapid adoption of the decision on the RSPP (Radio Spectrum Policy Programme) and used the opportunity to reiterate their concerns over the new Hungarian law bringing in a new tax on key industrial sectors, including telecoms.
