Heavy rainfall is likely to persist for at least another month, putting even more people at risk of floods. We will continue to help the most vulnerable among them,” indicated Kristalina Georgieva, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid. After the unprecedented torrential rains over the last few months, almost 2 million people have been affected by floods and landslides in the country. The emergency humanitarian aid provided by the Commission will help provide food, water and sanitation, temporary shelter, emergency relief items and primary health care for 80 thousand of the most affected communities, explained the Commission Wednesday's decision brings the total of the European Commission's 2010 humanitarian aid to flood-affected Colombians reaches € 2.6 million.
