30/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - EU-Comoros fisheries agreement. On Monday 29 November, the EU Council of Ministers adopted, without debate, the texts on the renewal for three years of the fisheries agreement between the EU and the Comoros. The current protocol expires at the end of this year. The fishing opportunities are: tuna seiners (Spain 22 vessels, France 22 vessels, and Italy 1 vessel); - surface longliners (Spain 12 vessels, France 8 vessels, and Portugal 5 vessels). The financial compensation to be paid by the EU is €615,250 annually: €315,250 in exchange for an annual reference tonnage of 4,850 tonnes for 70 vessels and €300,000 to support the development of the Comoros fisheries policy.
