The Russian press has reported that the Deputy Speaker of the Duma and Head of the Russian Gas Company Valeri Iazev has let it be known that Russia wanted closer cooperation with the EU on the Chinese monopoly on rare earth metals, widely used in Russia in sectors from defence to alternative energy.
