Germany takes in two former Guantanamo detainees

Brussels, 17/09/2010 (Agence Europe) - Two former inmates of the US prison in Guantanamo Bay have reached Germany, announced the German Ministry of the Interior on Thursday 16 September. One 34-year-old stateless Palestinian has arrived in Hamburg, and one Syrian in Rhineland Palatinate. In July, after protracted negotiation with Washington, Berlin had announced that it agreed to take in two former detainees, specifying that those would be the only two.
