09/09/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 6 September the European Parliament's regional development committee adopted f Alain Cadec's (EPP, France) report on the simplification of European research and innovation funding programmes. The MEP declared that “European innovation policy potential can only be realised if administrative formalities do not persuade potential beneficiaries. It is necessary to simplify the different financing instruments and promote access to them for SMEs and local actors”. According to Cadec, the regional level is best adapted for stimulating research and innovation, due to its proximity between universities, public research bodies, major companies, SMEs and local and regional authorities.
