Brussels, 26/08/2010 (Agence Europe) - In September, the European Commission will launch a new initiative to promote mobility among students and trainees called “Youth on the Move”, which should help more young people find work. The initiative has been developed as part of the EUROPE 2020 strategy and will encourage EU member states to cooperate to give young Europeans greater opportunities for making the most of their talents and abilities. To this end, the results and attractiveness of European universities need to improve, along with the overall quality of all levels of education and training in the EU, explains the Commission. EU Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou and EU Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion Commissioner László Andor will be holding a press conference on the new initiative on Wednesday 15 September. Anxious to stimulate open debate about important issues with young people, Commissioner Vassiliou will be taking part in a debate on Friday 17 September that will be broadcast live online and where she will answer questions from young people and questions asked online in advance or on the day.
