Brussels, 05/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - The EU has advertised the new post of EU anti-human trafficking coordinator. The person appointed will provide the overall strategic policy orientation in the field of human trafficking. This will include improving coordination and coherence between EU institutions and EU agencies, and with member states and international players. He/She will contribute to the development of existing or new EU policies on tackling trafficking in human beings, in particular in relation to third countries. He/She will also ensure that all appropriate means at the EU's disposal in combating people trafficking are used (bringing together prevention, law enforcement and victim protection) while ensuring consistency with migration and asylum policies. The appointment will be for five years and is not renewable. The new anti-human trafficking coordinator will report directly to the Director General of DG Home Affairs. (B.C./transl.rt)
