EU funding for a renewable energy efficiency programme in Egypt and Morocco

Brussels, 26/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission's office in Cairo, Egypt, has announced that it will be contributing to the funding of a programme to promote highly energy efficient renewable energy in Egypt and Morocco. The programme has been designed by the PlaNet Finance organisation and various technical micro-funding and energy partners. The agreement with PlaNet Finance International will provide EU funding for 75% of the total cost of the €1.35 million programme.

A press release from PlaNet Finance, which will be running the programme, explains that the following bodies are involved: Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Energie (ADEME), Group Environment Renewable Energies and Solidarities (GERES), the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency (ADEREE), the Egyptian Association for Community Development and the Dakahleya Businessmen Association for Comprehensive Developments, and Research and Study Group on Renewable Energy and Environment (GERERE).
