Parliament backs conclusion of negotiations with Central America and resumption of discussions with Mercosur

Brussels, 21/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 20 April, MEPs debated the partnership between the European Union and Latin America ahead of the Madrid Summit of 18 May. José Ignacio Salafranca Sánchez-Neyra (EPP, Spain), who has prepared a draft resolution on which there will be no vote this week, said that the next EU-Latin America Summit would not be “a summit between North and South, but one between equals” at a time when the IMF might be about to help a euro area country.
