MEPs want to go further in protecting animal welfare

Brussels, 20/04/2010, (Agence Europe)- On Monday 19 April, MEPs debated the report by Marit Paulsen (ALDE, Sweden) on the evaluation and results of the Community action plan on animal welfare for the period 2006-2010. In this review, Paulsen emphasised enhancing legislation, particularly for the directive on pigs, animal transport and the use of antibiotics in animal rearing.
