ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) disasters

According to the latest study by Swiss Re, natural disasters cost insurance firms some $22 billion in 2009, that is, half as much as the previous year. They had to pay out $4 billion for technical disasters. Counting uninsured damage, the reinsurer gives the total cost for damage in 2009 as $69 billion against $268 billion in 2008.
