Brussels, 31/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - Barring some unforeseen mishap, the verified CO2 equivalent emissions submitted by installations covered by the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) will be published on Thursday 1 April. The Commission announced on Tuesday 30 March that it planned to issue these data on that date if it received the required information on time.
All industrial installations participating in the EU ETS are required to submit data on 2009 verified emissions to national registries by 31 March 2010. The information will then be automatically transmitted to the Community Independent Transaction Log (CITL). The CITL will give unlimited real-time public access to the 2009 data, as soon as it receives information for installations that were responsible for at least 80% of the emissions recorded in 2008. If this level is reached on the morning of 1 April, as the Commission believes is likely to be the case, the data will be made public from 12.00 Central European Time. Otherwise, the data will be released on 6 April 2010. The Commission points out that these data may subsequently be subject to significant correction by member state authorities.
The verified emissions data for 2009 will be available online at the European Commission site: http: //ec.europa.eu/environment/ets (A.N./transl.rt)
