Brussels, 10/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - For the first time in its history, the Committee of the Regions (CoR) will have a woman president, Mercedes Bresso (PES, Italy), President of the Piedmont Region. She was elected to her new position on Wednesday 10 February, at the inaugural plenary session of the CoR's fifth term of office, the first five-year term, following the coming into force of the Lisbon Treaty.
That she is the only woman at the head of an EU institution is simply a first step...
