Brussels, 05/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 5 February, the European Commission launched a public consultation into a future agreement between the EU and the United States on data protection and the exchange of information. The objective of this consultation is to gather together the points of view of the stakeholders and the general public on a reflection document drafted by the Commission as part of its preparatory work for a recommendation aiming to authorise the negotiation of a future agreement between the EU and the US. All stakeholders and organisations at transatlantic level involved in the protection of personal data and/or the handling, transfer or exchange of information for law-enforcement reasons, and the general public, are invited to respond to this public consultation.
