14/01/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 14 January, the European Commission added three agriculture and food products to Protected Designations of Origin (PDO and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). Three Czech cheeses, “Jihoèeská Niva” and “Jihoèeská Zlatá Niva (PGI) and Italian fruit, “Pesca di Verona” (PGI); Slovenian pasta, “Idrijski žlikrofi” was added to the list of Traditionally Specialised Guarantees (TSG). Unlike the PDO and PGI, TSG is not linked to a given geographical zone but highlights the traditional nature of a product or traditional mode of production. (L.C.)
