14/12/2009 (Agence Europe) - In a declaration dated 11 December, the European Union has congratulated President Evo Morales on his reelection, and the Bolivian people on their turnout on the election day of 6 December and a renewed confidence in the democratic mechanisms to continue with the process of change. The European Union reiterates "its willingness to support the reforms to benefit the whole of the country, started under the first term in office of President Morales, and hopes to reinforce the ties of mutual cooperation and understanding in the period to come". Ahead of the implementation of the provisions of the political constitution of the State which was promulgated in February 2009, the European Union called on the political players to engage in constructive dialogue in order to guarantee the unity of the country and to consolidate the institutions of judicial and constitutional power.
