EU still waiting for Swift agreement

Brussels, 20/11/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 20 November, the European Union was unable to adopt an agreement with the United States on access to Swift banking data. Representatives of the EU 27 planned to meet again on Thursday 26 November to seek to agree on a text. “A new inventory has shown that there is still strong reticence on the draft agreement presented by the Swedish Presidency”, one diplomat said, after the Coreper meeting held on Friday, in Brussels.
