18/11/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), which is based in Vienna, informed European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek (EPP, Poland) on 10 November that it would not examine a Lithuanian Bill which may be discriminatory. An amendment makes it illegal to provide information to minors on homosexual, bisexual or polygamous relationships, since this, it is claimed, could have “a harmful effect of the development of minors” (see EUROPE 9979). FRA Director Morten Kjaerum said that the Parliament request for an assessment of the Bill's conformity with the treaties, did not fall within the Agency's area of responsibility. (B.C./transl.rt)
