THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) eu/spanish presidency

12/11/2009 (Agence Europe) - European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek is to be in Madrid on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November for talks with the Spanish authorities with a view to preparing the Spanish EU Council Presidency during the first half of 2010. Mr Buzek is to meet, in particular, Prime Minister José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos. A meeting with former Prime Minister José Maria Aznar is also on the agenda of his visit. (H.B./transl.jl)
