Roger Briesch meets with present and future EU member state press secretaries

Brussels, 11/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - In the context of the communication and awareness raising strategy for its activities with the media as well as with organisations and networks from organised civil society from the EU 15 and the future member states, the European economic and Social Committee (EESC) is organising, on 21 March in Brussels a meeting of press secretaries from these states. The EESC President Roger Briesch will present his agenda for the 2002-2004 Presidency (see EUROPE of 26 October, 6 November, 11 & 14 December 2002). The EESC Secretary General Patrick Venturini and the President of the "Communications" group Jillian van Turnhout-Hassett will draw conclusions from the works.

The participants will broach three themes: 1) the EESC after its four-yearly renewal; 2) the activities of the EESC in the European Convention; 3) enlargement seen by the EESC. The President of the EESC groups for employers (Alfons De Vadder - replacing Giacomo Regaldo), workers (Mario Sepi) and diverse activities (Anne-Marie Sigmund) will talk on these issues.
