12/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - MEP Alain Lamassoure (EPP-ED), UMP national secretary for European affairs, welcomes in a press release the latest declarations made by Nicolas Sarkozy, UMP President and French Interior Minister, on the subject of Europe. Nicolas Sarkozy, Mr Lamassoure said, has made two concrete proposals for reconciling the French with Europe: - that of immediately halting the infernal and unending enlargement mechanism by following a simple principle, that of freezing all new enlargement until the European Union has the political institutions necessary to work as it should. Then, France should be able to reactivate its institutional project, by making Europe a key theme for bringing the French together during the 2007 presidential campaign.
