13/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - Since the beginning of the 1990s, UNICE (European employers) was associated with talks that should have lead to the adoption of a Community system in terms of the protection of drawings or models. A first Directive, adopted in 1998 and the preparation of a harmonisation of Member State legislation that would allow to ensure the free movement of products including drawings or models within the EU. UNICE today feels that the time has come to adopt the draft regulation which dates back to 1993 and which aims to institute a Community system for the protection of drawings and models, in order to eliminate the present need to carryout the national registrations according to the various procedures of the different Member States. For the European employers, the dossier is ripe and could be concluded under the Swedish Presidency of the EU. in a press release published this Monday, UNICE calls as a result for the rapid adoption of the draft regulation.
