The European Research Council announced on Thursday 12 March that 372 experienced researchers will each receive grants of up to €2.75 million (the average grant being €1.91 million) to continue their work. The funding will be for researchers of all nationalities who work or wish to work in Europe and who have seven to twelve years' post-doctorate experience. Among the topics selected for this second round of funding are research in the areas of the disruptive behaviour of adolescents, the nature of autism or dyslexia and gravity's role in the universe. Compared with the previous round, slightly more women have been selected (28% compared with 24%) and 30 non-Europeans are also among the 372. Almost three quarters of recipients work in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain or the Netherlands. (JK)
