26/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - €600 million for 284 researchers. As part of the new round of financing from the European Research Council (ERC), 284 researchers will be sharing €660 million. A project will be able to be subsidised up to €3.5 million. Researchers whose projects have been selected come mainly from the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Italy. In total, some 2,400 applications were submitted - in other words, an increase of 4.5% in comparison with the last edition, the European Commission stated on Thursday 26 September. The next call for the award of this type of subsidy will be made as part of the Horizon 2020 framework - in other words, in 2014 - and will enjoy a bigger budgetary envelope. (JK/transl.fl)
