26/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - Belgrade progresses on its European path. On 25 September, the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton said that Ashton hailed the progress made by Serbia on its European path since last year. During their meeting in New York, Ashton and Serbia's President Tomislav Nikolic discussed the implementation of the agreements concluded as part of the dialogue with Kosovo - particularly the municipal elections in Kosovo on 3 November. They agreed on the importance of ensuring fair elections with the fullest cooperation possible. Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle welcomed the start of the chapter 23 screening (judicial apparatus and fundamental rights) on 25 September. The first day “finished successfully”, he said on Twitter. “Serbian team well prepared. Good start”, he added. The screening continued on 26 September. (CG/transl.fl)
