17/01/2013 (Agence Europe) - Prices of export refunds on poultry meat falls. The EU Management Committee voted, on Thursday 17 January, on a Commission proposal fixing export refunds on poultry meat. Due to the current market situation (high prices, stable feed costs, producer margins sufficiently healthy and increasing exports without refunds), the Commission proposed to adjust the refunds from €21.70/100 kg (set in October 2012) to €10.85/100kg. The result of the vote was a “no opinion” (i.e. there was neither a qualified majority of member states in favour, nor against, which means that the Commission now has the authority to adopt the proposal). The proposal is expected to be published in the Official Journal on Friday 18 January and will be applicable immediately after publication. (LC/transl.jl)
