10/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - EPP supports anti-dumping investigation into Chinese solar panels. Through its Greek member Ioannis Tsoukalas, the EPP group at the European Parliament has supported the launch, albeit "late", of an anti-dumping investigation against Chinese exports of solar panels and their photovoltaic components (EUROPE 10683). "The solar energy sector is designated by the Chinese government as a strategic emerging industry and supported through a range of measures. It should be clear that the Commission's investigation is not directed against China but it is a necessary process for eliminating unfair practices", explained Tsoukalas, stressing that the photovoltaic industry of the EU comprises 50 producers and some 300,000 jobs.
