15/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - Negotiations enter into heart of subject. Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Füle met Iceland's Foreign Minister Össur Skarphéöinsson on Monday 14 May to discuss the state of progress of the country's membership talks. In addition to the 15 chapters open, ten of which have been provisionally closed, preparations are underway for opening new chapters next month. “Negotiations will now touch on the most difficult chapters such as agriculture, fisheries, and capital controls”, but also on regional policy, food safety, customs, taxation and environmental policy areas, the commissioner said. Füle is to be in Iceland on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 May. (CG/transl.jl)
