18/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - Enlargement commissioner meets Croatian deputy prime minister. European Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Füle has met Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Neven Mimica to discuss Croatia's final preparations for accession to the EU, in particular the issues identified in the chapters on competition policy, justice and fundamental rights and justice, freedom and security, and the Commission's regular monitoring. Making the point that accession will take place in less than 15 months' time, Füle said it is essential that the time remaining be used to carry out the tasks associated with joining the EU. He said he was certain that Croatia would remain firmly focused on this and would continue to abide by the commitments it made during accession negotiations. (CG/transl.rt)
