Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, is gravely concerned by the alleged participation of two Iranian individuals in a foiled plot to kill the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States. “Even more disturbingly, I have also been informed that formal charges have been brought against a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as an Iranian-American citizen. This would constitute a major breach of international law, with serious international implications”, Ashton stressed on Wednesday 12 October. She is closely following the affair and trusts that light will be shed on this act liable to punishment. She calls on Iran to cooperate with US justice. (CG/transl.jl)
