20/09/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 17 September, the European Commission granted clearance to the acquisition by Permira Holdings Limited (“Permira” Guerseney) of sole control of Compagnia Surgelati Italiana (“CSI”), Italy, part of the Unilever Group. CSI produces, markets and distributes frozen food products, mainly through the grocery channel in Italy, among others under the Findus and Capitan Findus brands. Permira is a private equity fund whose portfolio companies currently include Birds Eye Iglo, which is active in the frozen food business with its Birds Eye and Iglo brands in several member states, but not in Italy.
